In an interview with Yeni Şafak newspaper, Başar Demircan, General Manager of Reis Makina, evaluated the developments in the CNC market, which he described as the backbone of the manufacturing industry. Demircan emphasized that a domestic CNC production initiative could keep USD 1.5 billion within Türkiye.

Describing CNC machine tools as the “backbone” of all production processes, Başar Demircan stated that the decline in market demand reflects the slowdown in the manufacturing sector. Despite this contraction, he noted that investments are continuing, saying,“The strengthening of the Turkish economy is only possible through increased production capacity. Strengthening CNC production will provide our country with both economic and strategic advantages.”

Recalling that Türkiye’s machine tools market has an approximate size of USD 1.5 billion, and that a large portion of this volume is dependent on imports, Demircan highlighted the economic contribution of domestic production with the following statement:
“If we can produce the machine tools that Türkiye need and much more within the country, approximately USD 1.5 billion would remain in Türkiye. This resource would enable the strengthening of other industries.”

Demircan also emphasized that CNC machines are vital not only for general manufacturing but also for defense technologies, underlining that dependence on foreign suppliers poses strategic risks. He noted that CNC machine tools are used in the production of critical components for the defense industry, adding that domestic production would eliminate these threats.
