Makita Middle East Regional Representative Kitagawa Visits Tradespeople in the Earthquake-Affected Region
Takashi Kitagawa, Makita Middle East Regional Representative visiting from Japan, paid visits to tradespeople in Adıyaman, Kahramanmaraş, and Hatay with whom the company collaborates. Kitagawa stated that they wanted to support tradespeople who are recovering from the earthquake and resuming their business activities, adding that they have been monitoring the situation since the very first days.
Makita continues its support for the region affected by the Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes through high-level representative visits. Immediately after the February 6 earthquake, the company provided in-kind aid worth millions of Turkish lira for rescue operations in the area.
Makita representatives returned to the earthquake zone months later to assess the current situation on-site and support their partner tradespeople affected by the disaster. Takashi Kitagawa visited tradespeople in Adıyaman, Kahramanmaraş, and Hatay who collaborate with Makita.
Expressing his desire to support tradespeople who are recovering and restarting their businesses, Kitagawa said: “Resuming business after such a devastating disaster is a challenging process for our dealers. As a country, we have experienced this kind of hardship many times. Therefore, we fully understand what is happening here. Supporting tradespeople to restart their business activities is also crucial for the region’s economic recovery. We wanted to listen to their problems and identify issues on-site so that we can offer practical solutions in the coming days.”
Makita dealers expressed great satisfaction with Kitagawa’s visit and shared information about the difficult process they have gone through since the earthquake. Başar Demircan, General Manager of Reis Makina, Makita’s distributor in Turkey, stated that Makita, as a Japanese partner, has approached the situation with great sensitivity since the day of the earthquake and has continuously monitored the developments in the affected region.
Demircan added: “Makita is one of the world’s leading companies in the hardware sector. In the first days of the earthquake, they provided machinery worth millions of Turkish lira for rescue operations, and later continued to support tradespeople in rebuilding and recovery. Even months after the earthquake, which has been described as the disaster of the century for our country, their visit to the region is very valuable for us. The Japanese have once again proven that they are friends in difficult times.”
